NewsApril, 14 2009 SELEX Galileo at LAAD 2009 - AESA technology at the heart of the next generation fighters SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, will showcase its key capabilities at the Latin America Aerospace and Defence Exposition - LAAD 2009, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 14 to 17 April. Over the past decades the Company has established long term industrial agreements in the Latin American region covering a wide range of its products and is well placed as a strong and reliable defence industry partner. April, 09 2009 SELEX Galileo, leading member of the Finmeccanica UK Battlespace Solutions team, flys its mini UAS as part of a Major British Army Military Exercise on Salisbury Plain SELEX Galileo, leading member of the Finmeccanica UK Battlespace Solutions team, has flown its Unmanned Air System (UAS) during a British Army mission rehearsal exercise in the UK. The flight team from SELEX Galileo's Air Systems, Unmanned Air Systems & Simulators division oversaw a number of successful flights of its STRIX Mini UAS as part of exercises carried out from 16 - 20 March on Salisbury Plain. This involved fast aircraft and helicopters, as well as SELEX Galileo's mini UAS. March, 23 2009 SELEX Galileo receives radar contract for US Customs and Border Protection Citation fleet SELEX Galileo is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $9.2M contract from TKC Aerospace, Inc. to upgrade the Customs and Border Protection C-550 Citation Tracker Aircraft with its Vixen 500E intercept radar and associated mission management system. This contract is for the first two radars and mission management systems, with options for additional systems to upgrade the remainder of the fleet. March, 10 2009 SELEX Galileo develops a new NATO compliant Common Ground Control Station for Unmanned Air Systems SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is set to introduce the development of its new NATO compliant, state-of the-art Common Ground Control Station (CGCS), at the Avalon 2009 Air Show in Victoria, Australia. The CGCS is in pre-production stage at the Company's site in Basildon, UK and is fully compliant with NATO's stringent STANAG 4586 guidelines and standards for imagery, command and control. Building on the Company's recent contract, with Surveillance Australia Pty Ltd (SAPL), for the supply of 12 SIM airborne surveillance mission system to be installed on Australian Customs Coastwatch, SELEX Galileo is looking toward a number of new opportunities in the Region. February, 26 2009 SELEX Galileo's Mastiff 2 Indirect Vision System heads towards the front line SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is pleased to announce the first production deliveries to NP Aerospace of their latest Indirect Vision System (IVS) to be installed on the Mastiff and Ridgeback fleet. The contract for approximately 400 systems, secured after intense competition, will equip the latest generation of protected mobility vehicles with a state of the art indirect vision capability providing 360 degree visibility. The Company will also promote its new business partnerships with industries in the UAE and Gulf region February, 13 2009 SELEX Galileo's HALO Acoustic Weapon Locating System to Enter Service with the Spanish Army SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, and INDRA of Spain are delighted to announce that the SELEX Galileo HALO Weapon Locating System is due to enter service with the Spanish Army early in 2009. The HALO system has undergone an in depth investigation and was chosen by the Spanish Army at the end of an extensive competitive tendering process. HALO is already in operational service with the UK, US and Canadian Armed Forces and Spain will be the fourth user to deploy the system in support of their troops currently deployed on coalition operations. This purchase brings the total number of countries that have HALO in service to six with more in the pipeline. February, 11 2009 SELEX Galileo signs new contract for its SLX Hawk Thermal Imaging cameras SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has signed a contract for the delivery of a number its SLX Hawk thermal imaging cameras with UK private company VISTAR. The contract will see the SLX Hawk be used as part of the VISTAR 350 night vision surveillance system, with the first units destined for naval ships bound for Trinidad and Tobago. February, 11 2009 SELEX Galileo and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Sign MoU for Collaboration on Electronic Warfare Programmes SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will explore potential opportunities in the field of Electronic Warfare in the Indian market including offset requirements and contract manufacturing for export markets. Current opportunities include offset requirements in MoD programmes like MMRCA, in which SELEX Galileo is participating through global aircraft manufacturers. January, 19 2009 SELEX Galileo's ATOS selected for the new Italian ATR 72 patrollers. Seaspray AESA Radar to be integrated onto ATOS system for the first time in Italy As part of Alenia Aeronautica's contract with Italy's Direzione Generale Armamenti Aeronautici (General Management for Aeronautical Armaments), for the supply of four ATR72 Maritime Patrol aircraft, SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, will integrate its ATOS mission system with the Seaspray AESA Radar for the first time for installation on an Italian aircraft. December, 18 2008 SELEX Galileo announce the Launch of the Falco UAV from a pneumatic catapult SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, is pleased to announce the successful launch, flight and landing of the Falco Unmanned Arial Vehicle (UAV) from a pneumatic catapult. The launch took place on 11 December 2008 at the Cheshnegirovo air base in Bulgaria. November, 20 2008 SELEX Galileo's EOST Electro-optical sensor performs its first flight on board the Sky-Y unmanned system The EOST electro-optic system, developed by SELEX Galileo, has been tested for the first time on board the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Sky-Y, produced by, fellow Finmeccanica Company, Alenia Aeronautica. During the flight campaign, at the Vidsel test range in Sweden, EOST was proven to be a robust and reliable sensor. November, 17 2008 SELEX Galileo signs 74 million Euro contracts for the supply of THETIS electro-optic sensor SELEX Galileo of Finmeccanica has recently signed contracts worth 74 million Euro for the supply of THETIS and other land electro-optic systems. 70% of these contracts come from the international market. THETIS is an electro-optic sensor operating day and night able to track fixed and in motion targets. SELEX Galileo has developed the THETIS and, while retaining the production for the Italian end user, has entered in partnership with local industries for the production of other systems. October, 02 2008 SELEX Galileo and Alenia Aeronautica for the Full Mission Simulator at Gioia del Colle air base SELEX Galileo, in cooperation with Alenia Aeronautica, (both Finmeccanica companies) has completed - at 36° Wing of Gioia del Colle air base, South Italy, - a restructure of the buildings that will host the Full Mission Simulator of the Eurofighter Typhoon, as part of the contract which covers integrated logistic support of the flight simulator for the Typhoon. The aircraft has recently entered into service at the Gioia del Colle air base. August, 22 2008 SELEX Galileo, Proud members of Stellar Team winners of the MoD Grand Challenge SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, has achieved success at the MoD Grand Challenge finale as part of the winning Stellar Team. Stellar team's winning SATURN (Sensing & Autonomous Tactical Urban Reconnaissance Network) solution was awarded the highest points of any participants by judging panel after successfully identifying the majority of the threats planted at the MoD's Urban warfare training facility at Copehill Down on Salisbury Plain. July, 31 2008 SELEX Galileo receives subcontract from CAE for M-346 initial training capability Eurofighter simulation activities on schedule with a 32M Euro contract for ASTA SELEX Galileo, of Finmeccanica, is pleased to announce the signing of a subcontract with CAE for work on the initial training capability for Alenia Aermacchi's M-346 new generation advanced lead-in fighter trainer. CAE was selected earlier this year by Alenia Aermacchi (AAEM) as preferred full-mission simulator supplier for the M-346 aircraft. As part of the M-346 program, AAEM awarded CAE a contract for the design, development and validation of the Initial Training Capability, which includes the prototype M-346 flight training device. SELEX Galileo will contribute to the M-346 training programme through simulator systems development and delivery. SELEX Galileo will have responsibility for the Instructor Operating Station (IOS) and provide parts of the avionics simulation and the cockpit. |
