NewsMarch, 08 2010 SELEX Galileo wins UK MoD CDAS Pointer-Tracker competition SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has won the competition to supply its next generation ECLIPSE Pointer-Tracker and Type 160 Infrared Counter Measure (IRCM) laser as part of the Common Defensive Aid Suite (CDAS) Technology Demonstrator Programme (TDP). The TDP aims to define the architecture for advanced defensive aid systems and forms a critical component of the UK MoD's aircraft protection strategy. February, 25 2010 SELEX Galileo's sonic system OTS-90 successfully showcased in Sydney on board the NH-90 (NFH) SELEX Galileo's sonic system OTS-90 was demonstrated successfully during recent flight trials performed in Australia. In a demo flight during the PAC2010 Exhibition, the helicopter NH90 (NHF) deployed the sonic sensor for a dip just in front of the Sidney Opera House. OTS-90 is capable of detecting and classifying targets at extremely long range, both in blue waters and brown waters. February, 17 2010 SELEX Galileo awarded a £10M contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has been awarded a £10M contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) for the supply of the Company's Digital Gun Management Systems (DGMS). The DGMS has demonstrated that it can dramatically improve the Canadian Artillery's capability during missions providing timely and accurate target engagement. February, 17 2010 SELEX Galileo awarded a £19M contract from the UK MoD for an AESA Technology Demonstrator Programme SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has received a £19M Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar Technology Demonstrator Programme (TDP) contract from the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (UK MoD). The contract includes the development and building of a multi-functional, wide field of regard AESA radar that will provide increased capability and performance when compared to conventional AESA Fire Control radar systems. February, 17 2010 SELEX Galileo announces $10M AESA surveillance radar contract for the US Department of Homeland Security SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a $10M contract for Seaspray 7500E Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars which will be fitted to King Air 350ER Multi-role Enforcement Aircraft (MEA) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and US Customs and Border Protection (US CBP). This new achievement follows the success of the Company's other AESA radars in the US strategic security domain. February, 15 2010 NASA's SDO satellite launches into space with SELEX Galileo's A-STR sensors installed NASA's Atlas V rocket, launched last week, carried into space the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) satellite. The satellite, which will investigate Solar spots and flares emanating from the Sun, will utilise two of SELEX Galileo's A-STR sensors. The A-STR Star Sensors will keep the satellite and its data-gathering instruments pointed towards the sun with an accuracy of a few thousands of a degree. February, 15 2010 SELEX Galileo's IRST to provide stealth search and track function for Gripen Next Generation SELEX Galileo is pleased to announce that Saab has selected the Infrared Search & Track (IRST) system SKYWARD-G to equip Saab's Gripen Next Generation (NG) fighter. SKYWARD-G provides similar functionality to a radar without giving out electromagnetic radiation and can therefore provide full operational search and track functionality with a stealth capability. The visit provided a focus for discussion and demonstration of the world leading Albion technology, a breakthrough achievement in IR detectors which can allow crew to detect, recognise and identify threats lying ahead at ranges 2 or 3 times superior to other comparable products available in the market. February, 04 2010 SELEX Galileo to lead UK MoD CDAS TD programme aimed at improving survivability of air platforms SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica Company, has been awarded a 4-year contract for the Common Defensive Aids System Technology Demonstrator Programme (CDAS TDP). This important contract has been placed by the UK MoD to support the aims of the UK strategy for Air Platform Protection. The DAS Controller and architecture will be developed from the Company's combat-proven HIDAS system and subsequent DAS upgrade programmes on UK MoD helicopters. January, 14 2010 SELEX Galileo and Owlstone to form strategic partnership in CBRN Technologies SELEX Galileo, a Finmeccanica company, and US-headquartered Owlstone Nanotech Inc. are pleased to announce that they have formed a strategic agreement covering the exclusive use by SELEX Galileo of Owlstone's FAIMS (Field Asymmetric Ion Mobility Spectroscopy) sensor for chemical sensing in the military market. Owlstone's FAIMS sensor and SELEX Galileo's chemical detection and identification algorithms were previously combined to create the Nexsense C chemical detection system. January, 05 2010 SELEX Galileo signs an MoU with ATMOS Sistemas for the development of AESA radar technology in Brazil SELEX Galileo of Finmeccanica announces the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ATMOS Sistemas (ATMOS) Ltda of Brazil. The MoU marks the beginning of a relationship between SELEX Galileo, key player in the Defense Electronic market, and ATMOS Sistemas and outlines the way for the collaboration in airborne AESA radar support and development. December, 17 2009 SELEX Galileo acquires new contracts worth around 16 million Euros SELEX Galileo of Finmeccanica has been awarded new contracts worth approximately 16 million Euros for its Mini Colibrì and Lothar systems, strengthening the Company's Electro- Optical business. The Mini Colibrì will be installed on the Esercito Italiano (Italian Army) Lince vehicle and the Lothar systems are to be installed on the Italian Army's VBM Freccia vehicle. The event, which this year took place at the Company's Basildon site, is designed to highlight the value the Company places on research and innovation among its employees. The first place winner of the SELEX Galileo awards will participate in the Finmeccanica Innovation awards. November, 24 2009 General Sir Kevin O'Donoghue, Chief of Defence Materiel - Defence Equipment & Support, visits SELEX Galileo On Monday 16th November, General Sir Kevin O'Donoghue, Chief of Defence Materiel, visited SELEX Galileo's facilities in Basildon, Essex, UK. General O'Donoghue was welcomed by Alberto de Benedictis, Chief Executive Officer Finmeccanica UK and by SELEX Galileo Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Steve Mogford. The General during his visit was briefed on the breadth of SELEX Galileo's and the Finmeccanica UK Battlespace Solutions team's capabilities and took part in demonstrations of next generation technologies available to the UK Ministry of Defence. |
