Test
The test facility at SELEX Galileo's Infrared Centre of Excellence has the capability to perform electro-optic and environmental tests on the range of IR detectors manufactured on the site.
Standard electro-optic measurements include output level, signal response, noise, uniformity and a map of defective pixels. Electro-optic measurements are generally performed using in house designed equipment. With the detector viewing a Black Body the output is digitised and data passed to a frame grabber within a PC. The PC will initiate a range a test operations, dependent upon the product specification, and produce a test certificate. In addition to the standard measurements the capability to perform additional special tests (for example spectral response, pixel detection profiles) can be performed.
An environmental capability is available to perform qualification tests on new products and environmental stress screening as part of production test. The environmental tests can include high and low temperature profiles (with defined ramp rates) as well as vibration. It is possible to vibrate detectors, or perform electro-optic tests, while the detector is held at various non ambient temperatures.
A team of engineers is dedicated to the test activity. The team includes software, electronics hardware and firmware design engineers as well as engineers dedicated to the conduct and support of the test process. In this way support can be readily available to the operations team, the marketing team and customers. In addition, with dedicated software and hardware resources new test and development requirements can be quickly implemented.
